The HOUT BAY HOUSE PROJECT in Cape Town
is the result of cooperation between experts from Europe and South Africa – experienced builders, manufacturers of modern materials and young scientists. The aim of the research project is to develop solutions for African wooden buildings in cooperation with international experts. The physical and technical properties of the structures are tested and the optimal solution for the South African market is sought. Using special sensors installed in the structure, data on thermal technical properties are collected. The value of the overall heat transfer coefficient of the external structure, its surface temperature and humidity are being measured. Data collection takes place during direct operation, including evaluation of the time trend.
